From
13 to 18 December 2003 has been held in Sharm-El-Sheikh the
“Second Regional Conference on Water Demand Management and
Pollution Control”, organized by ESCWA, UNESCO, FAO, UNEP
and WHO, with the support of several Agencies.
IRWA
has been invited to the Conference, and 3 relations have
been presented: Dr. Kamal Karaa , IRWA National Coordinator
for Lebanon and Chief of the Rural Department of the Litani
River Authority (LRA), held a relation entitled “Capacity
Building Initiative for Demand Management in the Agriculture
Sector in Lebanon”; Dr. Esmat Karadsheh, IRWA National
Coordinator for Jordan and Researcher of the National Center
for Agriculture Research and Technology Transfer (NNCARTT),
held a relation entitled “ Role of Information Technology
and Research in improving irrigation water management”; Dr.
Paul Gasparini, IRWA Senior Project Manager, held a relation
entitled “Capacity Building for improving Demand Management
in Agriculture sector in Lebanon and Jordan: IRWA
experience” .
Furthermore IRWA has sponsored the participation of 8 local
NGOs (1 from Lebanon, 2 from Jordan, 2 from Palestine and 3
from Egypt) who are dealing with Water issues in their
respective countries.
